Jun Takahashi – one of the most brilliant minds of avant garde streetwear, spirit brother to Nigo, and disciple of the godfather Hiroshi Fujiwara – has brought Neon Genesis Evangelion to the runway. And all of the mental health vibes along with it.
I’ll be honest, after being introduced to the series by my girlfriend at the time, my brain was scrambled. That’s a nice way of saying that s*** f***** me up. It’s possible she did this intentionally as revenge for leaving the toilet seat up again. After doing a little digging into Hideaki Anno, its creator, everything started to make sense.
Apparently Evangelion was created following a four-year depression. I mean, how? I can’t even manage to put my right sock on when I’m depressed. It goes without being said that Evangelion will continue to be recognized as one of the greatest animations of all time. Thank you Hideaki Anno and Jun Takahashi for presenting this to the world.
Hayao Miyazaki on Hideaki Anno:
“Anno is always Anno. That’s all he needs to be.”
